Objetivos del curso:
The interpretation of the language of comics presents a difficulty that lies in its own nature. It is a multimodal medium, which combines images and text. This circumstance has made its classification in the cultural scene a problematic question.
Its reception is also problematic since there is not yet a wide academic public versed in the criticism and analysis of this medium. However, its multimodal nature increases the range of possibilities and narrative resources available in its creation. As a result the comic has developed, during its trajectory, within its own language. Therefore, in addition to benefiting from centuries of literary and pictorial tradition, the comic has built up a series of unique mechanisms typical of the medium. This course is devoted to study these mechanisms from different points of view.
With this aim, the objectives that are pursued are:
- That the students understand the richness of the language of comics from different angles.
- That the students acquire basic tools of analysis and criticism of comics.
- That students are able to analyze visual information critically.
- Apply divergent thinking and cultivate one's own aesthetic.
- That students are able to appreciate and enjoy the medium of comics and can integrate it into the international art scene.
